Shopko Hometown fundraising update

The six Shopko Hometown stores in the U.P. are busy collecting signatures during the holidays to raise money for local schools.

Shopko Hometown is calling the program ‘Help Us Give Back’. For each signature a store collects through Christmas Eve, the Shopko Hometown Foundation will donate $1 to the school district in which the store is located.

The L’Anse store has about 1,200 signatures. Staff at the Manistique store say they have at least 1,000. The Wetmore store counted 961 signatures on Wednesday.

The Iron River store has about 600. The cash registers in the Ishpeming store are covered with signatures. Employees in Calumet aren’t sure how many they have, but a wall between the store’s restrooms is covered with them.

No purchase or donation is required in order to sign. The donations are capped at $2,000 per store.
