MTU hockey signs eight players
The Michigan Tech hockey team has signed eight players to a National Letter of Intent to join the Huskies. Five of them are forwards and three of them are defensemen.
Evan Anderson currently plays for the Salmon Arm of the British Columbia Hockey League. The forward ranks 6th in league scoring with 41 points in 32 games.
Mason Blacklock also plays in the BCHL. He leads the Vernon Vipers with 15 goals this season. Blacklock was recently named to the NHL’s Central Scouting watch as a potential 2014 draft pick.
Brett Boeing currently plays for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League. He has 16 points thru 19 games.
Alex Gillies helped Canada West to a bronze medal finish in the World Junior A Challenge this fall and he is also on the NHL Central Scouting watch list.
Forward Demico Hannoun has averaged a point a game this season for the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL.
Dane Birks is a defenseman from Williams Lake, British Columbia Birks was selected in the sixth round of the NHL draft last year by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Matt Roy is a defenseman from Canton, Mich. He currently plays for the Indiana Ice of the USHL.
Joe Schuldt is a defenseman with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL.
