‘Shop Small, Shop Local’ promotion

Businesses in the Ishpeming–Negaunee area are getting into the holiday shopping spirit with a new promotion.

The Greater Ishpeming–Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce is offering the ‘Shop Small, Shop Local’ punch card again this year.

The card gives shoppers the opportunity to win prizes while supporting the community.

“For every ten dollars you spend, you get the punch card stamped,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kori Tossava said.  “For every hundred dollars you spend locally, you would just bring that into the Chamber of Commerce along with your receipts, and we’ll enter you into a drawing that’s going to be held on December 23 for Chamber Bucks, which is kind of our local currency and available to be used at local businesses also.”

The card encourages community members to keep their holiday dollars local.

It also provides an opportunity to find unique items and experiences.

“Anything that we can do to be able to encourage people to continue to shop locally, to shop small, and to discover all of the great things that you have to offer with a very short drive distance, especially in the snow, is helpful,” Tossava said.

Punch cards can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office or many of the participating businesses.

You can visit GINCC.org or use the GINCC Directory mobile app to find where to shop to get your card stamped.
