Three wolves taken in U.P. wolf hunt

Three of the target 43 wolves have been taken during the U.P. Wolf Hunt. The Department of Natural Resources says the current harvest numbers and hunt status for each Wolf Management Unit (WMU) as of 6 a.m. are:

The Department of Natural Resources confirms two wolves were registered the wolves at DNR offices in Baraga and Wakefield. Details of the third kill have not been released.

Hunters must report wolves killed over the phone or in person the day the wolf is killed. Only 43 wolves can be harvested during the hunting season in three areas of the U.P. The season will continue through December 31, or until the harvest totals have been reached.

The DNR’s wolf harvest website has updates on the number of wolves harvested. The DNR will update the site at 6 a.m. every day of the hunt.
