Western U.P. Health Dept. recognized
The Western U.P. Health Department in Hancock is being recognized for its Community Health Assessment survey. During a health conference last month, the department was given two awards by the Michigan Department of Health in Lansing.
The first was the Director’s Award for its leadership, innovation and collaboration through the CHA. It was one of three given by the state health department for excellence in public health practice. The second award was the Community Achievement award which recognizes the successful collaboration of the health department and area hospitals and behavioral health agencies in supporting public health research and improvement for the benefit of the region’s population.
WUPHD Executive Officer Guy St. Germain says these are significant honors for their department and that it is earned recognition for the work of many people.
