RX Takeback nets 118 pounds in the U.P.

 

The Michigan State Police (MSP) says 640.8 pounds of prescription drugs were collected at MSP posts across the state during National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day held
Saturday, October 26.  118.3 pounds were collected at Upper Michigan posts.

The MSP partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other local law enforcement agencies for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day to provide a safe, convenient and responsible venue for citizens to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs.

Cadillac – 27.4 lbs
Calumet – 17 lbs
Caro – 11 lbs
Coldwater – 13 lbs
Flint – 25 lbs
Gaylord – 19.2 lbs
Gladstone – 37 lbs
Hart – 7 lbs
Houghton Lake – 10 lbs
Iron Mountain – 25 lbs
Jackson – 50 lbs
Lakeview – 10.2 lbs
Lansing – 31 lbs
Lapeer – 71.5 lbs
Metro – 35 lbs
Monroe – 22 lbs
Mt. Pleasant – 1 lbs
Negaunee – 35 lbs
Niles – 17 lbs
Paw Paw – 5.6 lbs
Rockford – 74 lbs
Sault Ste. Marie – 3.1 lbs
St. Ignace – 1.2 lbs
Tri-City – 20 lbs
Wakefield – 3.1 lbs
Wayland – 7 lbs
West Branch – 2.5 lbs
All 29 MSP posts participated in the one-day effort by serving as drop-off points for citizens to discard
expired, unused and unwanted medications for destruction. The service was free and anonymous.
