AMBER Alert System still active despite federal government shutdown
The federal government shutdown has affected many different agencies and services, but at least in Michigan, the AMBER Alert System isn’t one of them.
The Michigan State Police is one of the agencies that supports AMBER Alert of Michigan. Officials from MSP headquarters in Lansing say they’ve received questions recently from the news media about whether or not the federal shutdown affects the AMBER Alert system.
AMBER Alert of Michigan is a nonprofit group that serves as a liaison between Michigan law enforcement agencies and the media to help spread information about missing children to the public.
The Michigan Association of Broadcasters, the Michigan Sheriffs’ Association and the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police also support the AMBER Alert System. If you want to view active Michigan AMBER Alerts, you can click here.
