One man is in the hospital tonight, following a car and motorcycle accident that sent him barrel rolling down U.S. 41 in Negaunee Township. It happened just after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday night on U.S. 41 when a car attempted to merge into the right hand lane, unaware that motorcycle was in its path.
Eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident reported seeing the back bumper of the vehicle strike the front end of the motorcycle causing it topple down the shoulder of the highway while the driver held on. The unidentified biker was injured in the crash and transported to Marquette General Hospital for treatment. The extent of those injuries is still unknown, but eyewitnesses noted that the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Michigan State Police Troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
