Cliffs eliminates positions at Empire Mine
A number of employees working for Cliffs Natural Resources will soon be out of a job.
In an effort to restructure the company and reduce costs, several positions have been eliminated, not only at the Empire Mine, but company–wide.
According to Cliffs officials, an unknown number of people will be affected by the cuts.
Officials say it was not a sudden round of cuts, but has been an on–going process that started with a voluntary separation program, and now has moved to an involuntary program.
Officials add they did all they could to inform the employees of the potential cuts.
