Wildcats ‘D’ impressive vs. Findlay

The Northern Michigan University football team is 1-0 after a 41-31 win over Findlay on Saturday. NMU was led offensively by quarterback Cody Scepaniak.

The senior signal caller accounted for 415 total yards and three scores. NMU’s defense caused four turnovers in the game, which led to three touchdown drives for the offense.

Northern finished the day plus three (+3) in the turnover battle.

“When we get the ball, its almost like they’re (the offense) playing with nothing to lose,” said Wildcats linebacker Morgan Stenz about the team’s ability to cash in on the mistakes made by the Oilers. Stenz recovered one of two fumbles caused by the NMU defense.

“It was an exciting win for us,” said head coach Chris Ostrowsky. “There is certainly a lot to teach off of. We certainly are far from where we want to be in terms of a complete four quarters, but its a great feeling for these young guys to get the win after all of their hard work.”

Michigan Tech won at Tiffin on Saturday, 40-14 over the Dragons. Both the Huskies and the Wildcats have home games this weekend.
