Craft Beer Week in the Upper Peninsula

Upper Peninsula beer lovers are rejoicing in barley, malt and hops for the next few days.

This week is U.P. Craft Beer Week.  The event leads up to the U.P. Fall Beer Fest at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette this Saturday.

U.P. beer and wine shops have had visitors from breweries across Michigan all week long.

“There’s representatives from all the different breweries in Michigan,” Michigan Made Owner Holly Smith said.  “All over , in town, and different places.  It’s fantastic, because we’re all about Michigan here (at Michigan Made).  All our products are made in Michigan.”

More than 50 breweries will be on hand at the Fall Beer Fest, and some of them are holding tasting events across the U.P before the festival takes place.

“Anyone that wants to check on who’s doing tasting can go right to the Michigan Beer Week website, and it gives a detailed explanation of who’s where and what time,” Smith said.

The Michigan Brewers Guild is expecting to have 50% more beers to sample at the U.P. Fall Beer Fest than a year ago.
