Roar the Shore for the Beacon House
The Central Upper Peninsula will be filled with the roar of motorcycle engines Saturday.
It is the second annual Roar the Shore, a fundraising event for the Beacon House. The Beacon House is U.P.’s only hospitality house for patients receiving medical care and their loved ones.
The ride starts Saturday morning with a hot and hearty breakfast in Marquette at L’Attitude, followed by a bike parade.
“The motorcycles are going to ride up Washington Street down to Bald Eagle Harley Davidson, which is our first stop,” Hospitality House of the U.P. CEO Mary Dowling said. “We want to encourage people to, if you have a motorcycle, come out and ride and definitely be a part of this. If you don’t, ten o’clock Saturday morning, please be on Washington Street and cheer on our motorcycle riders and give them a big warm Upper Peninsula welcome.”
The two–wheeled adventure continues with a Lake Superior shoreline ride to Munising, then to to Escanaba, and finally back to Marquette County for dinner at the Up North Lodge in Forsyth Township.
The event also includes prize drawings, a silent auction, and a performance by the Flat Broke Blues Band.
If you do not have to have a bike to participate, vehicles are welcome to drive the route.
