High-speed chase suspect arraigned

The 22-year-old man who led police on a high-speed chase for nearly half an hour through the central U.P. was arraigned in Marquette County District Court on Wednesday. Robert Tyler Johnson of Wilson, was charged with one third degree felony count of fleeing and eluding police, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle without insurance, and refusal of a preliminary breathalyzer test.

Johnson was charged following the incident, in which he allegedly fled from police during a traffic stop early Wednesday morning in Skandia Township. According to police Johnson led police on a 25-minute high-speed chase before he lost control of his motorcycle trying to turn around on the gravel shoulder of US-2. Johnson remains in the Marquette County Jail on a $40,000 bond. His next court date is August 16th.
