Gogebic Co. offers residents new emergency communication service
Gogebic County Emergency Management and 911 will utilize a new communication service starting July 23rd that allows emergency personnel to send important, valuable community information directly to residents using the latest technology.
The Nixle Community Information Service gives Gogebic County officials an avenue to create and publish messages that will can be delivered to subscribed residents instantly via cell phone text message or email. Messages may include weather, hazardous waste spills, school closures, and other pertinent safety and community event information.
Messages can be sent specifically to residents registered within a quarter mile radius, giving them the opportunity to receive information relevant to their neighborhood. They can also decide which local agencies they would like to receive information from. If you’d like to participate in the Gogebic County program, you can register online at www.nixle.com.
