This year’s Flea Market featured a number of handmade items

Pioneer days are already taking over the town in Negaunee, and today was no different as Iron Street took on the look of a real-life bazaar. Vendors lined the strip with trinkets of all shapes and sizes for the 2nd Annual Pioneer Days Flea Market.

Over the years, downtown Negaunee has repurposed it’s empty buildings with a string of secondhand stores. So, last year, Carole Prisk decided to pull the community together and combine forces for a full on Flea Market where everyone could prominently display their products.

“Negaunee has six antique shops in this little town and there’s two more in Ishpeming. So, within three miles there are eight antique shops. I’d love people to know that we’re a viable, little antique market, to come down and visit us, and know that every year we’ll have a flea market. If you come to Negaunee there’s lots to do. It’s a little town that knows how to throw a big party,” noted Prisk, owner of Tickled Pink Antiques in Negaunee.

Prisk designed the event so that everyone involved can take part for free. The outdoor setting allows local shop owners to talk with customers face-to-face and answer any questions they may have about their wide variety of items. Prisk hopes to make the Flea Market a mainstay during Pioneer Days for years to come.

If you’d like to participate in next year’s rendition, head in to Prisk’s shop, Tickled Pink Antiques, and she can set you up with a free booth.
