9 hour stand-off ends in Delta Co.

A stand-off has ended in Delta County after nearly nine hours.

It started Tuesday at 5:40 p.m. when the Delta County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a residence on County Rd 416 in Flat Rock for the report of a man with a gun, who was holding his wife hostage.

Police officers from several agencies also responded and a perimeter was set up. The Michigan State Police Hostage Negotiator and other specially trained officers were also called in.

At around 8:30 p.m., officers were able to get the female hostage safely of out of the residence.

At 2:30 a.m., the hostage negotiator was able to talk the suspect out of the house without further incident.

The suspect was taken into custody and is lodged at the Delta County Jail.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending his arraignment.

Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Department were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police ES Team and Hostage Negotiator, Gladstone Public Safety, Escanaba Public Safety, Rampart EMS, and Escanaba Township Fire Department.
