Felonious Assault suspect arraigned
An Indiana man was arraigned in Gogebic County District Court after an assault over the weekend.
Steve Barry, 42, from LaPorte, Indiana, was charged with one count of Felonious Assault, a four year felony.
Troopers from the Wakefield Post of the Michigan State Police were dispatched to a Marenisco Township residence Sunday on a call that a man was threatening a family.
Barry was reportedly in a wooded area near the family’s residence.
The family told police he had entered the waters of Lake Gogebic making verbal threats and approaching them. Barry allegedly had a large stick, and made physical threats to a woman – who called 911.
Police say he was making rambling statements of Satan and religion. Barry is expected to have a preliminary exam in the next 14 days and was assigned a lawyer the court.
He is currently lodged in the Gogebic County Jail on a $2, 000 cash bond.
