Mqt. Twp. American store closing
A furniture and appliance store is closing its doors after more than 30 years in business.
American is shutting down its store in Marquette Township.
July 14th will be its last day.
The store will have a going-out-of-business sale starting Friday.
A sales manager at the store says the decision to close the store was made several months ago.
He says the company is selling the store property and leaving the Marquette area.
The closure will leave about 40 people out of work.
American has offered some of them new jobs elsewhere; the other employees will receive severance packages.
