Levin urges organizations to apply for RSVP grants

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., urged local organizations across Michigan to apply for federal grants to sponsor programs geared toward senior volunteers on Tuesday. The Corporation for National and Community Service will award $14 million in grants nationwide to city and county governments, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, Indian tribes, higher education institutions, and other groups that sponsor Retired and Senior Volunteer Programs (RSVP) in 2014.
“RSVP volunteers already serve in numerous Michigan communities,” Levin said. “With this grant opportunity, even more communities could benefit from the invaluable experience of our senior volunteers . I encourage organizations across the state to consider and apply for an RSVP grant.”
