Peter White Public Library’s used book sale

Anyone looking for some summer reading material, the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette has plenty of options.

There was a pre-sale Thursday, and the book sale runs Friday and Saturday.

All proceeds from the sale go to the Friends of the Peter White Public Library to support many of the library’s events.

“All the proceeds from the sale eventually come back to the library from the Friends,” Development Director of the Peter White Public Library Heather Steltenpohl said.  “They support collections at the library, they support many of our programs, such as our Once Upon a Time puppet series, summer reading program, conferences, they purchase equipment for the library, so these books benefit the library in so many ways.”

The sale typically raises around $ 5,000 from purchases of books, CD’s, magazines, vintage books and movies.  There is also a wide variety, from history and art to recent paperbacks and romance novels.

“The books that are in the used book sale are mostly donations from people who donate books to the library, as well as items that have been withdrawn from our collection,” Steltenphol said.  “If we have too many copies of what was a very popular bestseller, we’ll remove some of those copies, and so you will find some really good books on the shelves.”

The sale runs Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and 10:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.  From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, a grocery bag full of books is only $3.
