U.P. man arrested on terrorism charges

RAPID RIVER, MICHIGAN – A 28 year old Rapid River man has been arrested in connection with terroristic threats and the attempted manufacturing of explosive devices.

A joint investigation between the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post, FBI, and ATF lead to the arrest.

The incident occurred in Delta County’s, Masonville Township. The investigation was initiated after the suspect, who is a convicted felon, made threats on the internet to build a an explosive device and attempt to harm people at a public venue.

Charges were later authorized by the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office.

The man was arrested without incident by Troopers on Friday evening at his residence.

The man is facing felony charges and is currently lodged at the Delta County Jail without bond.

The name of the suspect is not being released, pending arraignment in the 94th District Court of Delta County.

The incident remains under investigation.
