5K and 10K walk/run to benefit expenting mothers

Many people exercise for their own benefit, but one Copper Country organization is raising money for the benefit of the lives of future little ones.

The organization is called Life Outreach Center.  Their goal is to help expecting mothers through their pregnancies.

They are hosting a 5K and 10K walk or run Saturday starting at Kestner Park in Houghton.

“We provide free and confidential pregnancy testing as well as talking through their pregnancy options,” Life Outreach Center Director Kathy Stryzakowski said.  “We also offer a program called Earn While You Learn which is a parent mentoring program where they learn about parenting as well earn free things for their children like clothes, gas cards—those types of things.”

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., and the event begins at 9:00 a.m..  Registration is $30 for individuals and $75 for families of three or more.  Children under 12 are free.  Everyone gets a free T-shirt, and a free hot dog lunch will follow the event.

The money raised from the 5 and 10 K’s go to help those in need of their services.
