The Marquette Electricians AAA Midget Hockey Club announced today that Head Coach Mark Nebel has resigned his position effective immediately.
Nebel, 47, took over from Mike Dagenais at the start of the 2011-12 hockey season and took the Electricians from a 16-35-8, record and a last place finish in the Northern Lakes Hockey League in the 2010-11 season to a 33-23-11, record and the NLHL League Championship his first season.
As a result of his first year success, Nebel was able to move nine of his players into Junior “A” hockey. 2012-13 was a rebuilding year for Nebel as the Electricians went 9-32-10.
Nebel was notified this week by his employer that his responsibilities had increased and that he would be required to spend more time at Corporate Headquarters in Green Bay.
Nebel is the General Sales Manager for WJMN-TV 3.
“This is not something that I want to do, but my job comes first.” Nebel said in his resignation letter to Electricians Chairman Brad Sullivan. “I have enjoyed the past two years as coach and I have enjoyed watching the kids improve and move on to Juniors.”
Chairman Sullivan announced that an immediate search would begin to fill the position.
