4 injured in Chippewa Co. accident

Excessive speed and alcohol were factors in an early morning accident today in Chippewa County.  The roll–over personal injury accident happened on 10 Mile Road in Dafter.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department says one person was ejected from the vehicle.  Four of the five people in the vehicle were transported to War Memorial Hospital.  The fifth person fled the scene on foot and was later identified.

Officers say speed and alcohol contributed to the accident.  They also say the five occupants of the vehicle were under the age of 21.

No names are being released at this time as the accident is still under investigation.  However, warrants will be requested for the occupants of the vehicle and possibly for other people.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Sault Tribe Police Department and the Dafter Fire Department.
