Big Bay Relay Results

Marquette, MI- The 37th Annual Big Bay Relay is in the history books: 34 teams participated in the relay and ran 26 miles.

The traditional course was along County Road 550 from the Kaufman Sports Complex in Marquette to Perkins Park in Big Bay.  All teams ran the almost-marathon-length course, exchanging and alternating runners at each designated mile marker.  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATeams traveled from as far away as Dollar Bay to compete in the relay.

The fastest team was in the Junior Division.  Team “Running Noses” rocked a time of 2:24.  The Female Division Team, “Cheetahlicious” crossed the finish line with a time of 2:43.  A Mixed Division Team, “Wanna Run?” came in at a steady 2:40, with the Male Division Team, “Off Track” finishing with a time of 3:30.

The Noquemanon Trail Network Skijor Club was the host for the event.  Proceeds raised during the race will go towards the Skijor Club & the Animoosh Skijor race for signing and trail support for our canine friends.  Johnson’s Superior Shoes and Jimmy John’s of Marquette sponsored the event.

Organizers say they’d like to “thank all participants and especially the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department the City of Marquette Police Department for their support…and to the City of Marquette and Perkins Park for hosting the start and finish areas.”
