Program on Parkinson Disease in Negaunee
From the Michigan Parkinson Foundation:
A special program focusing on Parkinson Disease (PD) will be held in Negaunee, MI on Monday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This program has been planned by the Michigan Parkinson Foundation Support Groups across the Upper Peninsula (currently in Calumet, Escanaba, Ironwood and Negaunee) to help people affected by PD stay abreast with the latest information about PD management and research.
Parkinson Disease is a slowly progressive neurological degenerative disease that affects approximately 30,000 people in Michigan. There currently is no cure, but symptoms can successfully be controlled for many years with proper treatment including medications, rehabilitation therapies, and in some cases, with surgery. Drs. Goudreau and LeWitt are renowned experts in treatment, education and research. It is being demonstrated that exercise significantly affects people with PD as well. This program brings to the area an update on advances in research and management to help people with PD and their families participate actively in their care.
