NMU ScholarshipNow Has Immediate Impact on Students

MARQUETTE, Mich.—The new ScholarshipNow program approved by the Northern Michigan University Foundation Board of Trustees allows donors to make a one-time or annual gift of $1,000 that will have an immediate impact on eligible students.

“Instead of waiting for interest to accrue, these cash-on-hand scholarships can be awarded right away,” said Robyn Stille of the NMU Foundation. “It is a nice amount for students—$500 per semester. It’s also an accessible amount for many donors. ScholarshipNow donors will be invited to the annual scholarship breakfast and have the chance to meet students impacted by their gifts. They will also be recognized as President’s Club members.”

With broad criteria, many students will be eligible. They must be enrolled in a program chosen by the donor from one of the following areas: the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Professional Studies or Business; Graduate Education and Research; and International Programs. Students must attend full time and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Financial need is preferred, but not required.

Gifts received by December 31 will be advertised to students during the winter scholarship application period and be awarded the following academic year.
