Business interests speak with one voice
Business development groups in Upper and Northern Michigan have to band together to make sure their voices are heard in Lansing.
They can speak with one voice through the Northern Michigan Regional Chamber Alliance.
The Lake Superior Community Partnership is a member of the alliance.
At a luncheon today, the LSCP learned more about how the alliance advocates for their interests.
“We do have smaller representation because we just don’t have the population base,” Doug DeYoung of the Northern Michigan Regional Chamber Alliance said. “But we do have the ability to get all of our legislators in Northern Michigan understanding our top, big rocks that we follow, that we track.”
The Michigan budget, Medicaid expansion and transportation funding are some of the statewide issues that the regional alliance is tracking.
