Ish. city manager top choice for Traverse City job

Ishpeming’s city manager may be about to move on to Traverse City to take the same position there.

Several Traverse City media outlets are reporting that the city is working on a contract offer for Jered Ottenwess.

He’s been Ishpeming’s city manager since March 2010.

The Traverse City Commission interviewed him and five other candidates on Saturday, and the commissioners voted for Ottenwess as their top choice.

Traverse City officials still need to run a background check and work out details of a contract.

The current city manager in Traverse City is retiring at the end of June.
