New Peninsula Bank office groundbreaking

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday afternoon to celebrate the building of a new Peninsula Bank branch.

The new branch is being built at the intersection of Baraga Avenue and McClellan Street in Marquette.  It will become Peninsula Bank’s sixth branch in Marquette County.

Peninsula Bank has owned the property for many years.  Peninsula Bank President and CEO Mike Smock said the new building is in a convenient location for customers.

“It was felt to be a great location, based on the amount of traffic and the convenience of our customers to come here,” Smock said.

The bank’s Front Street offices in Marquette will move into the new building once complete.  There will be the same amenities as other branches, but will have a few new upgrades to at the location.

“We will have a more convenient drive thru facility than our current location, and we’ll have a drive up ATM,” Smock said.

The new branch is expected to have offices in the building open by the end of September, and have the building fully operational by September 25th.

Peninsula Bank also has three offices in Ishpeming and one in Negaunee.
