Employees gather for the ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony

A short ribbon cutting ceremony kicked off the day’s festivities. Afterward, customers were greeted with a complimentary hot dog or brat of their choosing, as well as chips, a drink, and a chance to win a variety of prizes. Once inside, a free piece of cake accompanied shoppers through the revamped aisles.

“The store is basically new from the outside all the way through the back. All the cases are new. The store has increased over 60 percent from what it was in terms of size. In some categories, we’ve doubled the variety and selection that’s been available. I think the offering we have here in Negaunee is as good or better than anything else we’ve got. We’re very proud to be able to have it here,” explained Bob Halvorson, Vice President of Operations for Miner’s Incorporated.

The refurbished store is the culmination of a year’s worth of planning and construction; all while keep their doors open to customers.

“It’s always difficult to make an existing facility fit what you want it to be. But in this case, I think it turned out to exceed our expectations. It’s a big project. I think it shows our commitment to the community, and to Miner’s staying and growing our presence in the U.P.,” Halvorson noted.

Miner’s Incorporated has 33 grocery stores in four states; five of which are right here in the Upper Peninsula.
