Tech completes GLIAC Championships

ASHLAND, Ohio – Quinn Parnell led the Michigan Tech track and field teams with a pair of third place finishes in the 100 and 200 at the GLIAC Championships Friday (May 3).
Parnell ran a time of 10.64 in the 100, the eighth fastest time in school history, and a time of 21.36 in the 200, the fourth fastest mark all-time by a Tech runner.
Jevon Maddox earned All-GLIAC honors with a fourth place finish in the triple jump. His leap of 46-10 ranks fifth all-time.
“I was happy to see Jevon and Quinn earn all-conference honors,” said head coach Joe Haggenmiller. “They have worked really hard this season. Overall the GLIAC is one of the toughest conferences in the country, and we were able to compete with them.”
The men’s 4×400 relay team of Maddox, Nate Saliga, Dylan Anderson and Sam McKay finished 11th in a time of 3:23.51.
The women’s 4×400 relay team of Mel Hoffman, Dani Brzezinski, Deedra Irwin and Megan Smaby was 12th in 4:15.62.
In the 5,000, Karl Koivisto edged Nick Wimmer by .06 to finish 15th in (15:48.74). Bradon Kampstra was 21st (16:12.86).
Megan Smaby finished 27th (20:24.28) in the women’s 5,000.
Jared Berrymen finished 20th in the shot put with a toss of 44-0.5. Shane Severn was 21st (41-7.25).
Parrisha Louis was 26th in the hammer throw with a heave of 119-6.
The men’s 4×100 team botched the final exchange in the final and did not finish.
The men finished 10th out of 14 teams with 28 points. The women finished 14th of 16 teams with 11 points.
