Dollar Bay student in scholarship contest
Democrats in the State Senate call it their MI 2020 Plan—a proposal to pay the college tuition for every single Michigan high school graduate.
To try and promote the $1.8 billion legislation, they are holding a contest for the best video by a student promoting the idea. The winner gets a $10,000 scholarship.
Dollar Bay High School senior Erica LeClaire is one of the 34 videos in the running for the prize, and the only one from the Upper Peninsula.
If Erica does win the $10,000 scholarship, she plans to use it right here in the Copper Country by enrolling into Michigan Tech.
