Both drivers ticketed in Houghton Co. crash
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office
responded to a two car personal injury accident on the Chassell Painesdale
Road near US 41 in Chassell at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police say a 39 year old woman was driving was west bound on the Chassell Painesdale Road when she looked down to change her radio, crossed the centerline and went into oncoming traffic. Her vehicle collided head on with a vehicle driven by a 51 year
old Chassell man.
The woman was uninjured in the
accident, but the man and his 43 year old female passenger were
both transported to Portage Health by Mercy Ambulance.
The woman was cited for careless driving. The man was cited for operating while intoxicated. The accident is still under investigation.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the
Chassell Fire and First Responders, MTU Public Safety, and the Houghton
City Police Department.
