NMU golfers finish ninth at tournament

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University golf team finished in a tie for ninth place with Malone at the 13-team Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Tournament held at the Winding Hollow Golf Club in New Albany, Ohio on Sunday (April 21). Wayne State won the two-day tournament with a team score of 611. NMU finished with a total of 645.
Junior Jared Reid led the Wildcats, finishing tied for sixth overall with a 10-over-par 154 on the weekend. He shot 78 on Saturday and 76 on Sunday.
Juniors Mike Murphy (T30th) and Ben Johnson (T46th) also placed in the top 50. Murphy scored 81-78=159 and Johnson, 82-83=165.
Freshman Patrick Sweeney (173) and sophomore Ayrton Mantha (178) also golfed for the Green and Gold.
Northern returns to the course next weekend for the U.P. Challenge and GLIAC Preview at Eagle Eye in Lansing, Mich.
