Intoxication may have led to the head on crash.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Iron River man went out of control and crashed into a tree. Upon hearing the loud crash, neighbors near Sunset Shores Road in Bates Township alerted the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was rushed to Northstar Hospital in Iron River by Northstar EMS to receive treatment for facial and bone injuries.

Deputies believe that intoxication and speed played a direct role in the crash.  The driver’s name is being withheld pending blood evidence analysis and review by Iron County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Weston.
