NMU students give presentation on Costa Rica trip

An informational meeting was held Wednesday night at Northern Michigan University for students interested traveling to Costa Rica.

Students can sign up for an “Ecology and Ecotourism of Costa Rica” class, where they learn about the country.  They take a trip at the end of the semester, visiting places they learned about and do service learning projects at different sites across the Central American country.

Former students of the class told stories about their experience in Costa Rica, including trips to national parks and nature reserves.

There will be a fundraiser on April 18 from 7-8 p.m. at the Falling Rock Cafe in Munising with proceeds benefiting Costa Rico’s Karen-Mogensen Reserve.  The fundraiser includes a silent auction of souvenirs and photos taken by students.

Only students in the Costa Rica class are eligible for the trip, but the public can audit the class.  For more information, contact David Kronk at dkronk@nmu.edu.
