Prom dress donations sought in Copper Country

Two charities in the Copper Country are accepting donations to make sure no one has to miss their prom this year simply because they cannot afford formal wear.

Prom wear can be expensive and every year many teenagers have to skip the once–in–a–lifetime event because they have nothing to wear.  But it doesn’t have to be that way.

There are two locations in Houghton County were young people can find formal wear for the prom at no cost.

One is New Beginnings Angel Mission in Calumet where anyone can come in and pick out what they need.

Joanie’s Closet in Hancock works closely with the Department of Human Services to make sure the attire gets to those who need it most.

Prom season is quickly approaching…so donations are needed right away.

Contact Terry Bazin at New Beginnings or Sandy Coponen at Sew Sisters/Joanie’s Closet to find out more about the program.
