Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post are investigating a fatal shooting in Humboldt Township.
The incident happened around 6:05 p.m. Thursday.
A Michigan State Police trooper and a deputy from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department responded a domestic dispute involving a firearm at a Humboldt Township residence. They were confronted by an armed female at the scene.
Police say the investigation is still ongoing, but it appears the State Police trooper fatally shot a 50-year-old Champion woman.
The Michigan State Police and Grayling Forensic Science Labs are investigating the scene. Bell and Republic EMS assisted at the scene.
Police say additional information will be released when it becomes available.
