MTU: the invisibility cloak may be possible

Researchers at Michigan Tech have had a break through in trying to develop an invisibility cloak.  ABC Ten’s Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen has more on this amazing story.

It’s almost like something out of science fiction…the ability to take an object and make it invisible to the naked eye is one step closer to reality thanks to researchers at Michigan Tech.

They have developed a way use ordinary materials…like ceramics to cloak objects from microwave-length electromagnetic waves.

Those layers work together to bend the microwaves around the object so that they continue on as if the object wasn’t even there.

It won’t make objects invisible to our eyes…yet.  But it’s believed that the technology to make that possible is not so very far off in the future.
