Garden Township to receive federal support

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, announced today that the Garden Township Fire Department will receive federal support to purchase a new fire truck.  Mechanical problems with the current vehicle make it unreliable and unsafe to drive.

“Across Michigan, our firefighters provide courageous service to communities like Garden Township. This rural development grant will help the fire department purchase a new, safe and reliable fire truck so they can perform their duties and protect the public,” Stabenow said.

The Garden Township Fire Department will receive a $160,000 loan from the Rural Development office of the United States Department of Agriculture.

USDA Rural Development programs support such essential public facilities and services as water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency services and electric and telephone service. This loan will be used to help purchase a new tanker/pumper fire truck to help serve the Garden Township community.
