Churches observe Good Friday

Area Christians have made their way to church to observe the occasion of Good Friday.

Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette was one of many churches holding services today.

Good Friday marks Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and death.

Five other Marquette-area faith communities joined Messiah for an ecumenical service.

Good Friday is a time of mixed emotions.

It involves both the grief that comes from suffering, and joy leading to the resurrection of Easter two days later.

First United Methodist, First Presbyterian, St. Paul’s Episcopal and Grace Methodist of marquette joined messiah for the service, along with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Harvey.
