Western U.P. encourages Women in Science and Engineering (WISE)
The number of young women entering the engineering field has been growing the last several years. ABC Ten’s Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen shares one way Michigan Tech is helping to encourage that trend.
Get WISE is a program that is meant to do exactly what it stands for…Get Women In Science and Engineering. About 230 7th and 8th grade girls from the Western U.P. gathered today at Michigan Tech to tackle engineering challenges.
Students worked on three projects that are designed to open up a new world of engineering possibilities.
And the effort seems to be working.
