Final public wolf petition signing

The final Upper Peninsula public petition signing to keep Michigan wolves protected took place today at Northern Michigan University.

NMU students and other members of the community are continuing to show support to oppose the classification of the wolf as a game species.

The goal is to get 161,000 valid signatures statewide and have the issue placed on the 2014 ballot.

If enough signatures are collected, they’ll be submitted to the Secretary of State in Lansing on March 27th for validation.

The signing event was sponsored by Keep Michigan Wolves Protected, the NMU EarthKeepers II student team and the NMU Native American Students Association.
