MTU’s Hoyt earns postseason honor

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Michigan Tech women’s basketball senior Sam Hoyt earned Daktronics, Inc. Midwest Region Second Team honors for the second straight season.

The Arkansaw, Wis., native ranks fifth in the league in scoring at 16.5 points per game and second in free throw percentage (89.5-percent). Hoyt ranks third in assists (102), sixth in steals (53) and ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5). Overall she ranks in the top-10 in nine different categories in the league. She ranks eighth in career scoring at Michigan Tech with 1,357 points.

The women’s basketball team will face Kentucky Wesleyan Friday (March 15) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
