Mqt. area volunteer awards

Area nonprofit agencies often have unpaid volunteers as their backbone.

Those agencies want to recognize local people who give their time for causes important to them.

The Volunteer Coordinators of Marquette County is a collection of various nonprofit groups.

The organization is looking for nominees for its annual Outstanding Volunteer Awards.

Several Marquette County nonprofits have nomination papers for the awards.

Jill Rady of the Volunteer Coordinators says there are awards for all kinds of people, from youth to seniors to NMU students and many more.

The nominations are due on Monday.

The nomination packets are also available online from the Great Lakes Center for Youth Development and at UPvolunteer.org.

The awards will be given out at the Westwood Mall in Marquette Township on April 20th in a public open-house event.
