Former Houghton Police Chief dies

Former Houghton Police Chief Ralph Raffaelli has died.

The 73-year-old South Range resident passed away suddenly Thursday.

He served the Houghton Police Department for 41 years and was Police Chief for 21 years.

Raffaeli was also known for his love of local history and was instrumental in the creation of both the Carnegie Museum in Houghton and the hockey museum inside Dee Stadium.

The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements which will be announced at a later time.
