Kids climb at NMU

Marquette-area kids who’d like to try a new way to stay active can try it at Northern Michigan University.

It’s rock climbing.

The Physical Education Instructional Facility at NMU has an indoor climbing wall.

Every Friday night, on Kids Climb Fridays, area kids can try their hand at scaling the 1,450-square-foot surface.

NMU Outdoor Recreation Center manager Adam Fancier says they’ve held Kids Climb Fridays for as long as the PEIF has had the rock wall, and he says climbing is a great way for kids to learn to become more responsible for themselves.

Kids Climb Fridays take place every Friday at the PEIF from 5 to 8 pm.

It’s free for members and $6 for non-members.
