Petition drive to save wolves

Several dozen people braved heavy snow showers to sign a petition to save wolves.

Approximately 50 signatures were gathered from registered voters at the event at Northern Michigan University.

A larger event at NMU, involving many student organizations, is being planned for the day before the March deadline for the signatures to be turned in.

Native American and EarthKeepers II students, as well as Adam Robarge – Upper Peninsula coordinator for Keep Michigan Wolves Protected – made presentations to audience at the meeting Wednesday night.

The event was sponsored by the NMU EarthKeepers II Student Team and the Native American Students Association (NASA).

Keep Michigan Wolves Protected organizers have until March 27 to get 161,305 signatures in the effort allow voters to decide the fate of the wolf hunting bill.
