A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after being struck by a pickup truck. The accident happened at 9 a.m. on Lakewood Lane near Hiawatha Street in Chocolay Township.
According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office a Ford pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Harvey man, was traveling eastbound on Lakewood lane, when a female pedestrian crossed the road in front of him to get the newspaper.
The driver of the truck was unable to avoid the pedestrian and stuck her. Police say the pedestrian was a minor, and that she received minor injuries to one of her legs.
She was transported to Marquette General Hospital for evaluation by Marquette General EMS. The Michigan State Police and Chocolay Township Fire Department all assisted at the scene.
